The past week has been busy. The weather has stayed clear but a bit cooler so I have had a chance to do a bit of riding. I was working at the winery every day and am starting to look forward to a few days off for the upcoming long weekend. On Saturday we both had to work Deb finished mid afternoon and I worked till 6 then I hurried home and changed then headed for the annual lamb dinner at the Quinta Ferreira Winery. The dinner started with a stand up reception with cheese plates paired with a new release Chardonnay. The sit down dinner was held in the wine caves which were really nicely set up with tables for 8. The first course was a candied salmon and potato patty with a white blend Mistura Blanca, this was followed by a corn chowder paired with oaked Chardonnay. Next was the lamb shank with risotto and a roasted tomato paired with their premium red blend Obra Prima . then we had another cheese plate and finished with a crème Brule paired with their port style wine. All in all a great night but well past our normal bed time. Sunday I worked for a couple of hours at the winery then headed over to the Festival of the grape where I poured some more wine for a couple of more hours. F.O.G. is the biggest event in our town and there were about 4000 people in attendance with 50 wineries serving wine, live entertainment which was very good, as well as the grape stomping competition and lots of food and craft vendors. When I got home we started a birthday party for one of our friends . we had some great wine starting with a chardonnay from the Myer family vineyard then Sauvignon blanc, the absolutely top shelf wine from Fairview cellars the iconoclast a fantastic Cabernet Sauvignon then we finished with a private Merlot that was also really great. Now I have a busy week planned before getting some time off for the weekend.
