Today started with a wakeup call at 5AM to go to a grass fire our quick response helped to keep it small. The temperatures here have been 30+ for the past week combined with very low humidity makes for very dangerous conditions for grass / forest fires. Since this fire started right beside the road at 5 in the morning it was probably human caused hopefully through carelessness not intentionally. ( me in coveralls)
After getting home a couple of hours later and getting cleaned up I headed to Church & State wines where the Lieutenant Governor was giving an award for their Syrah. The Lieutenant Governor’s awards for wine are a pretty big deal here and recognise the great quality of the wines that are made in the Provence and as usual ther quite a few from Oliver. I was happy to get to go to this special event that included Consuls General from about 25 different countries, I enjoyed hanging out with these people, I should be the Consul for Ireland or at least the wine Consul. to be continued shortly.
